9. Measurement process control approach

Many factors determine the accuracy and reliability of test or analysis results. Using the (5M) – Diagram developed by Mr. Kaoru Ishikawa –, we consider elements from :

  • human factors ;

  • installations and environmental conditions ;

  • test and calibration methods and method validation ;

  • equipment and measurement traceability ;

  • sampling and handling of items tested or analyzed.

  • Human factors

    Appoint a person to be responsible for controlling the measurement process. This person must be familiar with the company and its techniques, and it would be unwise to entrust this task to a trainee or a new recruit.
