
7. Conclusion
This article shows that industrial needs are very diverse, and that the ISO language is potentially capable of meeting them very well. Published standards already largely cover traditional needs. New tools bring new functionalities to optimize dimensioning and maximize tolerances.
However, we need to keep a close eye on the development of standard 5459, scheduled for 2025, particularly with regard to the choice of the solution that will be adopted: "surface associated with a default reference in nominal or offset position", and 5458, which is likely to be largely called into question, as the solutions currently proposed are unsatisfactory.
In the current state of the standards, some very useful new concepts are not yet sufficiently developed. Lack of precision and limitations call for great caution. Where necessary, the supplements proposed...
