 INTRODUCTION

The diagram is one of the vectors of graphic communication. It has taken on considerable importance in our technical societies. It is widely used in everyday life, but its preferred domain is the industrial world.

"The diagram is defined as a simple, abstract presentation of reality.

Diagramming is a system of thought and a means of communication, and the diagram is a creative tool and an agent for transmitting information.

Few fields have escaped this schematization. We'll confine ourselves here to the field of technology, to the exclusion of others, particularly the arts.
