4. The fourth S: visual management

To implement visual management, the minimum materials required are: adhesive tape in various colors for temporary markings, felt-tip pens, paint and display media. Figure 7 shows some of the essential elements of visual management. The most obvious is floor and wall markings. A simple splash of paint and we have immediately defined zones. The place where the operator will stand to work at the workbench is clearly visible, as are the locations of the fire extinguisher and first-aid equipment. Signage on the workbench is simple and up-to-date. The calendar is up to date. But visual management goes even further.
