The notion of "diagnosability" makes it possible to formally verify whether a set of predefined faults is diagnosable within a limited timeframe, based on a model of the system and a set of observable events . The notion of codiagnosability is intended to verify that any fault that can be diagnosed by a centralized diagnostician can also be diagnosed by at least one local diagnostician, using his or her own observations.
