2. Prerequisites for a functional economy

If we have already considered the functional economy from the point of view of the object of the transaction between principal and supplier, it is necessary to complete this analysis with an examination of the conditions of the elaboration of this object. In fact, two of these are essential.

The first prerequisite is a change of dimension in the supplier's role. The supplier can no longer simply deliver an object, but becomes an "ensemblier" who must combine all the dimensions attached to the object. This enrichment is valid both now (nominal performance) and over time (operating performance). In so doing, the supplier's missions are multiplied, calling for enhanced coordination.
