4. Robust monitoring using bond graphs

4.1 Surveillance system terminology

  • Detection robustness" is the ability of the procedure to detect faults independently of process model errors. It is a special form of isolability. In practice, this is a very difficult problem to solve, since the structure of a model is an approximation, and its parameters are only known to a certain degree of accuracy.

  • Parametric uncertainties" are uncertainties affecting the coefficients of matrices used to represent the state of a system. This type of uncertainty reflects both the uncertain nature of the modeling parameters and the fact that certain parameters are likely to change significantly.
