 INTRODUCTION

Exposure to noise and vibration is a major source of occupational hazards.

Since 1963, deafness has been recognized as an occupational disease, and as such is eligible for compensation. The impact of a "noisy" environment on health can be limited by taking into account exposure sound levels and regulated sound pressure levels. The pathological effects of vibrations on humans are also recognized and described. Reducing intensities and exposure times, improving equipment and ergonomic conditions are all potential actions in the context of overall prevention for operators.
