1. Definition of technical engineering
In its most general sense, engineering is defined as all the services involved in studying, designing and building a structure.
Specialist engineers can work either within a single specialty, generally as "consulting engineers", or within a larger, multidisciplinary structure, the "technical design office" or engineering company.
It's these organizations that we're interested in here; we'll refer to them as "technical engineering" or "engineering" in the following.
