For business models based on the sale of goods or services, pricing has a direct impact on sales volumes and revenues. Prices can be set in relation to demand, competitors or costs, usually taking all three into account.

7.1 Self-employed

Faced with large chains and the development of e-commerce, independent ready-to-wear boutiques are suffering. Consumers often prefer to save time by grouping their purchases in shopping malls or buying by mail order from online boutiques. Over the 2007/2013 period, ready-to-wear sales declined, while online sales took off, rising from 4.1% to 13% of market share.
