6. Conclusions

The above examples show that organizational analysis can be used in a wide range of safety-related applications, from event analysis to situation diagnosis.

From a methodological point of view, it relies on "objective" data (parameter values, written records, scenario reconstruction, etc.), but it also encourages the voice and feelings of stakeholders, i.e. those who have a legitimate point of view on the event and/or situation.

The examples also show the constants in carrying out an analysis:

  • development of an "organizational network" outlining the interactions between entities relevant to understanding the event or situation;

  • Putting into perspective the interactions and communications between players close to or far from the event or situation;
