10. The importance of open-access data
The Makers have made it a vital principle to use open-access, royalty-free plans: so that any manufacturer in the world can produce the MakAir quickly and cost-effectively, and to local regulatory standards, including manufacturers whose value creation is linked to the manufacturing guarantees and responsibilities they assume. Royalty-free creation is the cornerstone of the "start-up/hackathon" collaborative approach, enabling anyone to modify a project or take over an idea with the aim of improving it. Quality and safety criteria are always respected during the innovation process, an important point in the medical field. Without the world of free software, the project would not have been possible. All the "Makers" in the world are welcome to improve the plans, but each modification will require validation by the regulatory authorities.
