2. Case study: water packaging and distribution

A distinction must be made between the packaging of natural mineral waters and the materials used in fixed drinking water distribution systems.

Regulations are essentially national; in France, in both cases, they are drawn up by the Direction Générale de la Santé (DGS) and the AFSSA, which has replaced the CSHPF.

2.1 Mineral water packaging

The conditioning of these waters is governed by decree no. 64-1255 of December 11, 1964, supplemented by circular DGS/HP/3˚-414 of July 16, 1971, which specifies the conditions for applying for authorization to use a material, as well as the protocols for the tests to be carried out.
