4.1 Test programs

Distribution circuit simulation programs are laboratory-based fitness-for-purpose test programs that meet a number of objectives:

• functional evaluation objectives: will the packaging be able to satisfy the expected fitness for use?

• research objectives: what causes damage and how can it be remedied?

• comparison objectives: which of two packaging solutions is the most suitable?

• conformity determination objectives: does the packaging comply with national, European or international regulations?
