6. Primary pump sets (GMPP)

6.1 Design and manufacturing

A primary motor pump unit (GMPP or "primary pump" for short) is installed on the cold branch of each loop, between the GV outlet and the vessel inlet. Its main role is to ensure water circulation at the flow rate required for proper core cooling.

There are therefore three primary pumps on the 900 units (model 93D, rated flow 21,500 m 3 /h) and four on the 1300 (model 100D, flow 23,000 m 3 /h) and 1450 (model N24, flow 24,850 m 3 /h) units.
