9. Conclusion on the characteristics of the approach

The proposed method seeks to strike a good balance between rigor and the need for simplicity and pragmatism, given the information and resources reasonably available. It is characterized in particular by the following aspects:

• It starts from the concepts defined in the standards to ensure that the approach is clear, unambiguous and traceable;

• It begins by identifying hazards classified into five distinct categories, for which generic lists are proposed;

• the assessment of the severity of hazards is based on distinct templates which provide assistance and limit possible inconsistencies when comparing hazards of different natures; this assessment takes into account the means of control already in place so as not to carry out work that is too abstract, which could lead to distorted results;...
