4. Extrinsic improvement of barrier properties

In addition to techniques involving the creation of sandwich structures where, typically, a thin layer of barrier polymer is incorporated in the center of the structure, it is also possible to improve barrier capabilities by depositing external or internal layers.

The deposits in question may be organic or inorganic.

4.1 Deposition of organic outer layers

A variety of spray-applied organic deposits are available.
