4.1 Preliminary remarks

Only the chemical formulas of the most common plastics, i.e. products marketed for industrial use, are given below.
Excluded are new polymers being studied in research laboratories or under development, and special polymers whose applications are limited to a few very specific fields of use, e.g. conductive polymers, those for medical or food use, etc.
