1. Manifestations of non-linear viscoelasticity

The viscoelastic behaviour of polymers combined with large deformations can induce, in the case of fluids made of molten polymers, a set of specific phenomena of which the best known are swelling at the die exit, the presence of recirculations at the entrance to contractions, the Weissenberg effect and high elongational viscosity.
