INTRODUCTION
The overmolding, or overinjection, process is very similar to the injection molding process, as it is based on the fundamentals of conventional molding.
This technology can be applied to both simple and complex parts, and is of interest to a wide range of industries and applications, including automotive, connector technology, electronics, telephony, household appliances, aeronautics and space, mechatronics, toys, cosmetics and design...
Over-injection can be used for a wide range of thermoplastic, thermoset and elastomer polymer materials.
In just one or two steps, this processing method can be used to manufacture parts with inserts that would often be impossible to produce using conventional methods.
Last but not least, overmolding eliminates the need for additional steps such as assembly or finishing, thus reducing costs.
