2. Solid-state polymer rheology
2.1 General
Etymologically, the term rheology comes from the Greek ρεω: to flow, to flow, and designates the science concerned with the flow of materials and related phenomena.
As mentioned above, we can't talk about the behavior of macromolecular compounds without referring to the concepts, vocabulary and methods it developed. Indeed, the theory of elasticity developed by Hooke (1676), Mariotte and Cauchy, the theory of plasticity developed by Coulomb, Tresca, Mises, Hencky and Caquot, and the law of fluid viscosity proposed by Newton (1685) are unsuitable for studying the mechanical behavior of polymers in all its aspects.
