Empreinte; mold cavity

The part of the mold that gives shape to the injected part.

Effet diesel; diesel effect

Virtually adiabatic compression of the air in the mold cavity, resulting in significant localized heating of the injected plastic and mold steel.

Canal froid; cold runner

Mold feeding system in which the injected material is frozen and then ejected at each cycle.

Canal chaud; hot runner

Mold feeding system in which the injected material remains in a molten state throughout the injection cycle.
