10. Mould acceptance protocol

10.1 Off-press checks

Prior to press testing, the following checks can be carried out to test the quality of the mechanical design:

• Checking the parting line by applying blue on the parting line and checking the spans after closing;

• disassembly, inspection and reassembly (detection of makeshift repairs: welding and foil) ;

• measurement of flow rates and pressure drops in cooling circuits: this can be done using manometers mounted on standard fittings and by timing the filling of a container of known volume;

• dimensional verification of cavities by targeted measurements: dimensions that are difficult to achieve or functional dimensions...
