1. What's your substance?
It is important to correctly identify the substance for which you are determining a classification. A substance is defined by its IUPAC name, identification numbers (CAS, CE...), purity and impurity profile.
1.1 Determining a classification
The CLP regulation obliges manufacturers, importers and distributors to propose a classification for a substance in order to identify its hazards.
It will enable :
information on these hazards via labelling and safety data sheets;
propose management/protection measures for users and the environment;
propose classifications for mixtures/preparations based on this substance.
