6. Conclusion

The deductive nature of the ADD approach makes it unique in the field of operational safety. This is the basis of its success with reliability engineers. It is less well known to traditional engineers than reliability diagrams [SE 4074] , but it is often used as a basis for discussions concerning the failure scenarios of the systems analyzed. Like all other Boolean approaches (reliability diagrams, event trees), it conceals mathematical difficulties that are often ignored by users, and even by some calculation software whose mathematical principles and limits should always be checked before use....
