Does the French authorities accept weighting for hazard studies?
Yes, but the arguments explaining the origin of the weighting coefficient must be very convincing. In case of doubt, the DREAL may request the opinion of a third-party expert, or ask the manufacturer to disregard the weighting coefficient.
What is Risk Based Inspection (RBI)?
This is a risk assessment-based method designed to prioritize the implementation of inspection programs (with the aim of detecting the onset of metal property degradation) on equipment. The API 581 standard states that, on industrial plants, a significant proportion of risks are generated by a small number of items of equipment.
