Self-classification

When the supplier identifies a hazardous property of a substance which is not covered by a harmonized classification, or for which the harmonized classification does not appear to be sufficient, he carries out his own classification and notifies the ECHA inventory.

Harmonized classification

Classification with an entry in Annex VI of CLP (an index number is associated with the entry number in Annex VI). This classification has been validated at European level.

Classified as hazardous

A product classified as hazardous is one which meets the criteria of the CLP Regulation and for which a hazard has been identified. The CLP classification criteria are detailed in the ECHA technical guide: "Guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria".
