5. Conclusion

Lightning protection means taking into account all the devices involved, from the catching device to its furthest extremities, such as earthing systems or equipotential bonding bars. As far as possible, when designing the installation, it is important to consider the location of down conductors, natural or otherwise, as well as earthing systems and their interconnections, both with each other and with the electrical or telecommunications network. This is why it's better to speak of a lightning protection system, which is more general than the usual term "lightning conductor".
