7. Analysis procedure for lightning protection systems and high-intensity radiated fields (L/HIRF)
7.1 Objectives
The objectives of maintenance on L/HIRF high-intensity lightning and radiated-field protection systems are to reduce the possibility that the occurrence of a single failure or common-mode failure on redundant L/HIRF track elements could have an impact on airworthiness. To this end, the susceptibility to degradation caused by environmental deterioration and/or accidental damage of each element of the L/HIRF systems is analyzed.
Maintenance tasks for L/HIRF systems are developed as part of aircraft type certification and form part of the MRB report.
