2. Three approaches to SoF, three good reasons to get started

As a general rule, you don't start implementing SoTL without some good reason, some hope. It is guided by one idea that the implementation of a SoTL activity can succeed: to fit in well and bring relevant results.

Even when seduced by the relevance and naturalness of the approach, it is generally impractical to try to introduce it into all the company's or organization's processes. The most effective way is to start by leveraging the approach in one (or a few) particularly crucial areas where the progress made possible by SoF is felt to be a necessity by those involved. The choice of a starting point is certainly specific to each organization.

However, the accumulation of experiences exchanged at ISdF and at congresses has led us to distinguish three typical paths to SoF:
