3. Define and prioritize prevention actions

Priority should be given to eliminating the chemicals or processes concerned or replacing them with less hazardous products and processes, even if the risk assessment results in a low risk (this phase is discussed in the next step).

If this is not possible, every possible means must be taken to limit staff exposure as much as possible, for example by :

  • working in a vacuum;

  • extraction at source ;

  • reducing the number of exposed employees (while avoiding isolated work).
