2. What are the responsibilities of the various parties involved in ADR?

The shipper, packer, filler, loader, carrier, unloader, consignee and equipment operator are the eight functions involved in the dangerous goods shipping process identified by the ADR. Their detailed roles and responsibilities are described in chapter § 1.4 of the ADR, and presented below.

  • identify the goods to be shipped, make sure they are authorized for transport, and assign them the correct UN number (see How to classify dangerous goods? [FIC 1233] );
