6. Mistakes to avoid
6.1 Don't confuse efficiency with probability of failure
If an MMR is not effective against a scenario, it cannot be valued as an MMR. Taking it into account in the ESD by associating a probability of failure is not correct and leads to an under-assessment of the risk. The probability of failure of an MMR can only be taken into account after verification of its effectiveness in relation to the scenario studied.
