3. Anticipating Annex XIV listing and its impact on the market

Recommended substances are included in Annex XIV by decision of the European Commission, which may however modify the content of the recommendation (addition or withdrawal of a substance, modification of transitional provisions, etc.).

Annex XIV is amended at least every two years. It defines :

• the name of the substances and their CE and CAS identification numbers;

• hazard properties used for SVHC identification ;

• transitional provisions such as the expiry date and the deadline for filing an application for authorization to avoid any interruption in use;

• any exempted uses and corresponding revision periods.
