3. Crystallization

3.1 Principles

Crystallization is a phase change that transforms a compound into an ordered solid state. In the historical sense of the term (excluding quasicrystals), a crystal is an ordered periodic arrangement in three-dimensional space, the crystal lattice being the basic unit that repeats itself by translations according to the law described by a point lattice.
