6. Conclusion
Biological treatments have been widely used and proven for many decades to treat organic biomass waste. Their versatility, robustness, efficiency and low cost are undeniable assets in this field.
The evolution of separate collection practices for this type of waste, driven in the urban system in particular by European regulations progressively imposing selective collection and separate management of household bio-waste, opens up significant development prospects for these processes. These prospects are strengthened by the favorable environmental context for the development of renewable energies, among which methanization represents a strong potential, but also by international efforts to increase carbon recycling and storage, to which composting makes a major contribution.
