2. Analysis of flow losses and how to reduce them

In this paragraph, we'll look at losses, which take the form of an increase in entropy, and which are involved in efficiency (BM 4,560 § 2) through the retardation coefficients ϕ and ψ. Beforehand, we'll give some clarification on the exit angles α 1 or β 2 , which we considered in our discussion of efficiency to be fixed solely by the blade grid geometry.
