2. Pumps for heavy liquids

The term "charged liquids" covers fluids with dissimilar characteristics, which have led to the development of several types of pump, each with a specific purpose. To oversimplify, "charged liquids" can be grouped into 3 main categories:

  • fluids carrying abrasive or very abrasive powdery loads, but whose particle size remains small compared to the pump's flow cross-sections;

  • fluids transporting solid bodies of considerable size, which can lead to clogging of the impeller channels;

  • fluids containing fibrous, vegetable or organic matter, which can lead to slow clogging of any section of the pump.
