2.1 General architecture
The positive displacement compressor is located in the engine's air intake circuit, downstream of the air filter which protects it from impurities that can cause seizure, and upstream of the cylinder inlet (figure 3 ).
It is usually driven mechanically from the crankshaft by a belt or, more rarely, by a gear. The connection can be :
by using an electromagnetic clutch on one of the pulleys;
