5. Conclusion
This article describes the main static and dynamic characteristics of aerostatic thrust bearings. The presence of orifices, cells and feeder grooves offers a wide range of constructive solutions. This article focuses on aerostatic thrust bearings whose restrictors, located between the pressure source and the honeycomb, are orifices. Restrictors made from porous materials are not discussed, but the problems they raise are similar. The critical point in the design of aerostatic stops and bearings is to ensure pneumatic hammer-free operation with sufficient damping capacity. Their advantage over aerodynamic bearings is a high load-bearing capacity at zero rotation speed and relatively high stiffness.
