1. Typical actuation system components

This article will develop estimation models for the components most commonly found in electromechanical or electrohydraulic actuation and motorization systems. Numerous power transmission architectures can be created by combining the following elementary components:

  • mechanical power transmission: bearings and rod ends, pinions and worms, gearboxes, screw/nut systems;

  • for electromechanical converters: electric machines with permanent magnets, asynchronous motors, transducers with limited travel, electromagnetic clutches and brakes;

  • hydraulic power transmission: cylinders, motors and fixed-displacement pumps.
