2.1 Feedback and life cycle

In the industrial sector, feedback takes place at every stage in the life of a product or installation, from the preliminary design stage to the end of life, via the detailed design stage, construction, commissioning and operation (figure 1 ).

The experience acquired during this life cycle is naturally applied to the definition of new products or installations. During all these phases, the use of feedback databases is a key factor in optimization:

• compliance with safety criteria, in terms of equipment reliability,...
