1.1 New uses of simulation to meet the needs of new designs
The development of new products in the maritime, naval and marine energy sectors requires the development of new computational methods to simulate their operation and to support their design and optimization. This is typically the case for certain hydrofoils, which engineers wish to make more flexible, in order to design lighter, stealthier and more refined thrusters. This is also the case for new energy recovery systems, such as tidal turbines, some of whose parts are designed in composite materials.
