1. Objective
The reason we place so much emphasis on modeling is that the aim of CAD is to create a model (virtual mock-up) with the following two properties:
represent object properties (in the broadest sense) ;
be usable (calculations, simulations, preparation of ranges, etc.).
it is of course essential to have the necessary hardware (computer, screen, etc.), which we won't go into here as their characteristics are well known.
The general architecture of a CAD system is shown in figure 1 .
