9. Standardization work

A standardization committee, UNM 920, was created in June 2010 to bring together the expertise needed to develop standards and reference documents relating to additive manufacturing in general. It reports to the AFNOR strategic committee "Industrial Engineering, Capital Goods and Materials." In a concerted effort, other countries have launched additive manufacturing standardization projects. Created in February 2011, the ISO/TC 261 "Additive Manufacturing" technical committee proposed by DIN (Germany) was accepted by the international ISO community.

It is important to note that there are a few standards specific to powder bed laser melting. One example is the American standard ASTM F2924-12, which covers specifications for TiAl6V produced by powder bed melting.
