Assemblage homogène par soudage; homogeneous welding

Welded joint between two metal parts of the same grade, with or without filler metal. If filler metal is used, it must be of the same or similar grade to the base metal.

Assemblage hétérogène par soudage; heterogeneous welding

Connection between two metal parts of identical grade made with a filler metal of a different grade, or between two metal parts of different natures.

Face side weld

Side on which the welding process heat input required for the joining operation takes place.

Reverse side of the weld; root weld

Opposite side of the welding process heat input required for the joining operation
