6. Optical properties
The optical properties of 100% nanocellulose films, or nanocomposites, have been studied mainly for MFC. These properties may be important for packaging applications. Visible light transmittance is usually determined using a UV-visible spectrometer. Measurements are typically taken in the 200-1,000 nm wavelength range.

Films obtained from aqueous suspensions of MFC can be optically transparent if the cellulose nanoparticles are arranged compactly and the interstices between them are small enough to avoid light scattering
