2.1.1 Structure

The structure of a material results from the arrangement of its atoms. When these are periodically ordered in space, they form what is known as a crystal. The crystal structure is then described by the crystal's lattice parameters, its Bravais lattice, its space group and the position of the atoms in the crystal lattice.
