4. Conclusion

Nanotechnologies have entered the food packaging industry at a time when this sphere of activity was already exposed to a loss of confidence on the part of society, as a result of recent health crises (ITX, phthalates, bisphenol A, etc.) and collective awareness of the environmental pollution generated by plastic packaging (contamination of the aquatic environment and soil by microplastics). The applications of nanotechnologies to packaging are vast, and benefit from research efforts focused on mastering the properties and reactivity of materials on the nano scale. These applications respond to new demands and changing consumer habits, and the market projections are considerable.
