2.1.1 Nucleation and growth: LaMer theory

The primary aim of colloidal nanocrystal synthesis is to produce populations of nanoparticles with similar properties. It is therefore essential to optimize the monodispersity of nanocrystals, and to achieve this, to control their dispersions in size and shape.

As early as 1950, Victor K. LaMer introduced the concept of "burst nucleation" to answer this question.
